Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

On arrival at the airport in Kigali town, be received by our knowledgeable and experienced guide. He will brief you about the whole trip’s movements and then start the journey to Volcanoes National Park. The journey takes about 4 hours, but it’s also an experience of its own.

It gives you spectacular views of the Virunga ranges. The journey will be extremely flexible, having several stopovers at places of interest. Arrival will be in the evening for checking in, relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking and Ibyawachu cultural village

Early morning at 7 am, head to the park headquarters for a simple briefing from the local tour guide. Be divided into groups of eight people to trek one gorilla family.

Trekking these endangered apes involves walking into the jungle in search of the mighty apes in their natural setting. Hiking through the thick forest, having to hold onto tree branches for support and pave your way through the forest with your hands or a hand stick, the experience is simply thrilling.

On encountering them, spend one magical hour with the great gorillas, watching them conduct their daily lives, and spot the juveniles play from one tree branch to the other.

In the afternoon, after lunch and relaxation, you will visit the Ibyawachu cultural village. It’s Oastop Centre that exhibits all three ethnic groups in Rwanda, the Twa, Hutu and the Tutsi. Enjoy the traditional performances, local delicacies, as well as have personal interactions with the local people.

Day 3: Departure

Early morning after breakfast, check out of the lodge and drive back to Kampala or straight to the airport for the flight back home.
