3 Days Mgahinga Gorilla Trekking Tour

The 3 Days Mgahinga Gorilla Trekking Tour allow you to trek the amazing mighty apes in their natural environment to have very close encounters with them in one of the most thrilling places in Uganda. The park encloses three out of the eight Virunga volcanoes.

Mgahinga National Park is one of the only four lucky national parks in Africa that are home to the endangered mountain gorillas. Located in southwestern Uganda at the border of Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo in the Virunga ranges, Mgahinga National Park is home to more than 300 mountain gorillas.

Day 1: Travel to Mgahinga National Park

On arrival at the airport, or early morning, be picked up by our knowledgeable driver guide from the lodge where you will have spent the previous night. Be briefed about the whole trip and immediately start travelling to the park. Have the first stopover at Kayabwe for a photo session at the Uganda equator. From here, proceed to Mbarara, the town of milk and honey, for lunch. Embark on the safari vehicle to Mgahinga National Park. The journey offers stunning views of the Virunga ranges. Arrival will be in the evening, just for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking and the Batwa community trail

After an early breakfast, the driver guide will pick you up and drive to the park headquarters for a briefing at 8 am and then tracking. You will walk through the forest, on slippery trails, with just support from the walking stick and tree branches, meet the gorillas and spend one magical hour with them, watching them carry on their daily lives and taking many pictures as you want, as long as the camera doesn’t have a flash.

After the tracking, you will drive back to the lodge for hot lunch and relaxing and later in the afternoon, do the Batwa community trial, here you will interact with the native inhabitants of the forests who were forced out of the forests and had to start a new life outside the forests. Hidden treasures of information are discovered. Evening relaxation at the lodge as we wait for dinner and prepare to embark on our return journey.
