These 3 Days Kahuzi Biega National Park Tour specifically take you to Kahuzi Biega national park in the Democratic Republic of Congo. You will trek one of the mighty giants of the forest; the lowland gorillas. Unlike the mountain gorillas, the lowlands are not endangered, however trekking them also gives an authentic African forest experience that cannot easily be forgotten.

DAY 1: TRANSFER FROM KIGALI TO BUKAVU

Having arrived at the airport, or had breakfast at a hotel, one of our experienced and professional guides will pick you up and transfer you to Bukavu in DR Congo. Probably have a stopover at either the King’s palace or the Ethnographic museum in Huye.

After lunch, then continue to Bukavu via Cyangugu border located on the shores of Lake Kivu as it is the nearest town to Kahuzi Biega national park.

DAY 2: LOWLAND GORILLA TREKKING

Have a palatable breakfast at the lodge, then drive to the park headquarters for a simple briefing about the eastern lowland gorilla trekking, the dos and don’ts while on the trek and with the gorillas.

Start the fascinating experience of hunting for the eastern lowland gorillas in the great valleys of Kahuzi, encountering with different mammal species, birds and several primates. Trekking these gorillas usually takes about 1-6 hours’ experience of the forest depending on the movements of these apes.

On meeting the group. Watch them interact with each other, take as many photos and short videos as you want provided the camera doesn’t have a camera. Having spent the one magical hour with these mighty apes, then go back to the park offices to drive back to the lodge.

In the evening you have an option of a community walk in Bukavu if you are still strong from the trek.

DAY 3: DEPARTURE

In the morning, have breakfast, check out of the lodge and then transfer back to Kigali to either catch up with the flight back home, or to the hotel of your choice.
